Have you had enough of Winter already? Three weeks into the coldest season of the year and I am desperate for a sunshine getaway. A favourite for many Canadians are the cities of Phoenix and Mesa in Arizona. After my recent adventures there you can count me as a fan. Desert segway tours, hot air balloon rides and great food all make for a fun winter escape. Oh, did I forget to mention the weather? The average temperature for January is around 20ºC which is perfect in my opinion. Phoenix is also home to the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass. Native American owned and designed it is an AAA Four Diamond resort that has a world-class spa, 2 18-hole golf courses and a 2-mile river that you can cruise on. All of that plus a great restaurant. What more do you need for a stay and play escape to the sun?
The Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass is a breathtaking resort. Native American owned it is designed to be an authentic representation of the Gila River Indian Community’s heritage and culture. The architecture, design, art and legends of the Pima (Akimel O’otham) and Maricopa (Pee Posh) tribes are celebrated in every detail throughout the resort.
The lobby and lower lounge take your breath away.
As for the rooms here is a tour of my room and what you can expect from a Deluxe Guestroom. Great WiFi and rain shower in the room by the way.
Home for a cpl nights. @sheratongrandaz in Chandler, Arizona. The first Sheraton Grand Resort in NA. Truly exceptional desert vacation escape location. Kai & Ko’Sin restaurants are the on-site restaurants where you can wow your taste buds.
Kai is the only AAA Five-Diamond/Forbes Five-Star dining experience in Arizona so you know you will have a great experience here. Locally farmed ingredients are the stars on the plate and the Chef draws inspiration from the local Pima and Maricopa tribes. I highly recommend you try the Chef’s Tasting Menu for the full experience.
Ko’Sin is suitable for all ages and offers a more casual dining experience. The food is still top notch and local ingredients are featured in every dish. OMG, you need to order the Pork Wings at least once. I became addicted to them and couldn’t eat enough of them.
I am not sure you ever need to leave the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass during your vacation. There is so much to do here. If you are a golfer then you have 2 18-hole courses to play. Like to ride horses? There is an equestrian centre where you can book trail rides. Prefer some water activities? How about paddle boarding or cruising on the 2-mile river that winds its way throughout the property.
If you need a bit more rest and relaxation time then head to the Aji Spa for an afternoon or a day of pampering. I did and I didn’t want to leave.
Of course, there are also four pools at the resort for you to splash and float in. For your little ones, there is a waterslide that I am sure will be the main attraction.
I am so ready to go back. Ready to escape winter and bask in the sun at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass. See you there.
