What are you craving? Start there when checking out the Phoenix restaurants you are considering for lunch and dinner. You’ve already had a feast at breakfast now it is time to match that during the rest of your day. Feel like tacos? What about Arizona BBQ and some homemade hot sauces and salsas? Or perhaps you just want to relax over a glass of wine, made right in Arizona. These are all possible plus much more at the Phoenix restaurants I visited during my recent adventures. The towns of Mesa, Phoenix and Gilbert all have some great dining options available to you including a once a year feast Out in the Field at The Farm at Agrotopia. Happy eating.
Lunch, Dinner and Adult beverages
Jalapeno Bucks 3434 N Val Vista Dr, Mesa – BBQ lovers know that the best BBQ in Phoenix is outside of town at Jalapeno Bucks. What started as a farm store selling hot sauce has grown into a BBQ lovers destination that you won’t want to miss.
When you get here you need to do two things. #1 is to bring your appetite and #2 is to be adventurous. They have plenty of fresh made salsa’s, hot sauces and BBQ for you to try. I tried as many dishes as I could including the Mango Salsa and the Brisket Sandwich. I’m drooling just thinking about it.
Joe’s Farm Grill 3000 E Ray Rd, Gilbert – common food done uncommonly well is the tagline at Joe’s Farm Grill and I can attest that it is true. Under the same ownership as Liberty Market, there is a similar method to ordering your meal here. Line up, place your order and they will bring it to you.
Everything is super fresh and made in-house here including the sodas. Got a hankering for some fried onion rings? Check. How about a gourmet hot dog topped with everything you can imagine? Check. Common food done uncommonly well and very family friendly if you have kids of any age with you.
Joyride Taco House 302 N Gilbert Rd, Gilbert – It should be no surprise that there is at least one taco joint on the list of where to eat in Pheonix, especially given how close to Mexico you are. Joyride Taco House in Gilbert (there is another location in PHX) serves up tacos on made to order corn tortillas and they are delish! Don’t forget to order a Margarita while you are there. $5 Margaritas are served between 11 am – 5 pm every day! Say no more.
Postino 302 N Gilbert Rd #102, Gilbert – If you aren’t in the mood for Mexican in Gilbert, how about Italian at Postino next door. An approachable wine by the glass menu and an 11+ selection of Bruschetta toppings make for a fun place to order as you go. Order a couple of Bruschetta boards and as many varieties of wine as you feel like. Great for those that enjoy a “tapas” style evening.
Worth Takeaway 218 W Main St, Mesa – Whether you eat it in or take it to go there is no better place in Mesa to grab a sandwich than Worth Takeaway. Simple yet tasty, made from scratch sandwiches that will keep you full until dinner time. My favourite is the Buffalo Chicken served with in-house made potato chips. top that off with a bottle of Danzeisen Dairy chocolate milk and the Banana Pudding. Yummy.
Garage East at Barnone 16456-16598 E Ray Rd, Gilbert – DYK that Arizona has wineries? I didn’t until I stopped for a glass of wine or two at Garage East at Barnone located at Agrotopia. Todd and Kelly Bostock take grapes grown in Willcox and Elgin, Southeast of Pheonix and make their wines in Gilbert. A fun winery/wine bar you can try their entire portfolio or stick to just a few. I’m a try them all kinda guy. Who knew there were wineries in Arizona? Now you do.
I’ve only scratched the surface of all the great Pheonix restaurants available for you to try, but I hope these give you a few to think about exploring. Good eating to you.
