Artisan handmade chocolates that transport you to nirvana.
Who doesn’t love chocolate? That’s what I thought, everyone LOVES chocolate. I especially love dark rich creamy handmade chocolates and confections that you know someone has poured love into. That is the sense I got when I first walked inside Chocolaterie De La Nouvelle France with my friend Cassandra when we went exploring Main St discovering some fabulous 30 Small Businesses to profile.
Located at 198 East 21st Ave just off Main St, Chocolaterie wows you right from first glance. You are immediately transported to France and all I wanted to say when I entered was ooh la la.
When you step inside the aroma of chocolate is everywhere. I had to be careful of the photos I took because store owner and master chocolatier Anne-Geneviève Poitras is very camera shy. It was also hard to capture some shots because the store was never empty. Someone was always popping in for a treat.
Anne-Geneviève makes everything in house, you can even see into the kitchen where all the goodness is made. Imagine Charley & the chocolate Factory but instead of elves it’s Anne-Geneviève.
Sometimes when you enter a store like this all you want to do is sample some of what they have to offer. Anne-Geneviève has thought of that and they have a tasting menu board where you can order a selection of chocolate treats including 1 hot chocolate & 1 drinking chocolate perfect for two people to share.
If you aren’t in the mood or perhaps you have to pick up a great hostess gift for your foodie friends then may I suggest you consider some of the home made spreads, Fleur de Sel Caramel & Chocolate Hazelnut. YUMMY.
Seriously all I want to do is run over to Main St and buy some right now!
I think you get the picture. What Anne-Geneviève has created is a little homage to France and the fine art of fine chocolate. This is definitely a 30 Small Businesses I can see myself visiting regularly.
