Baby clothes that celebrate life.
Everyone loves babies and why not? They coo, giggle, smile (it’s just gas) and they smell so good. In baby making circles I’m actually known for giving great baby gifts and I’m going to share one of my favourite baby stores with you. That’s what 30 Small Businesses is all about after all, sharing the love for unique and awesome owner/operated stores right here in the lower mainland. So let me take you to PARADE Organics.
Located at 231 Cambie St in Gastown PARADE first started as a wholesale business, selling to select retailers across Canada and the US. In 2011 they finally opened up their shop and boutique and that is when I discovered them. I was on the hunt for a baby blanket, which is my preferred baby gift. What I really wanted was an organic cotton baby blanket and that is what PARADE is all about.
Simple, colourful and fun they make clothes that celebrate being a baby. Designs with names like Monkey, Sweetpea, Pumpkin, and Peanut, all nicknames I can’t resist calling out when I meet newborns.
You can certainly go online to buy anything that’s available in the store but I always like to touch and feel the clothes I buy as a baby gift.
What I really love about PARADE and the clothes they make though is their commitment to sustainability. I know we can’t be “100 Mile Diet” and “zero net impact” every moment of our day but whenever possible I like to make choices that support others in moving towards being kinder to our planet. PARADE puts their commitment right on the label. You can’t get any clearer statement than that.
Perhaps the next time you have a friend, family member or colleague that is having a baby you’ll check out PARADE. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, I ended up buying a blanket and a jumper! Who could resist. Follow them on Facebook & Twitter, something tells me you will see lots of cute baby photos!
