Sunwing Vacations And Riu Palace Jamaica, All Inclusive Adult Only Fun In The Sun

White sand beaches, blazing Caribbean sun and all you can eat and drink. Sounds like paradise? It is and it is called Jamaica. Vancouver has had one of the worst winters on record and Toronto is wet, windy and bloody cold on the best winters day. I need an escape to the sun and when I get there I don’t want to see or hear a single screaming child. I need an adults only getaway where all I have to decide is whether I will drink a rum punch or a Red Stripe. I need a Sunwing Vacation to the sun and the Riu Palace Jamaica looks to be the perfect place to rest my winter-chilled body for a week of glorious relaxation. No kids, no worries, YA MON!

The escape to the sun begins with a very early morning trip to the airport. Am I ever glad my ticket was upgraded to Elite Plus once I got to the airport. The lineup in regular check-in was fast moving but long. Whereas the Elite Plus counter was a breeze. Plus my bags were no charge to check through and carry on. Next stop airport security.

On the plane and on our way another perk of Elite Plus I am grateful for is the extra leg room. It’s not business class but I’ll take any extra inches they’ll offer. If I was hungry I would happily snack on one of Chef Lyn Crawford’s inspired dishes. She is one of my favourite celebrity chefs and maybe on the way back, I’ll try the food. It’s 6:15 am after all and maybe I can catch a few extra winks on the flight.

We have arrived! Through customs and security, we then make our way to the Riu Palace Jamaica shuttle bus. I am so ready to get into my bathing suit and slather on some sunscreen.

Arrived in Jamaica

It only takes us about 10 minutes to get from the Montego Bay airport to the Riu Palace Jamaica. Another few minutes at registration and then I am up to my room.

Did you see that bar in my room? Got to love an all inclusive.

Now it is time to strip down to my bathing suit and hit the pool. More adventures are to come but for now, I just want to enjoy some pool time and maybe a few Red Stripes. YA MON.

Marc’s personal note: During my stay in Jamaica I could not have been treated nicer or by friendly people. However, I should note that Jamaica as a whole is a very homophobic society and may not be a suitable destination for all. If you fall within the LGBTQ community and still wish to visit Jamaica, may I suggest you pick an all inclusive property like RIU Hotels where guest safety and happiness is taken seriously.
