Rooftop dining 365 days a year.

The last and final patio of the 30 Best Patios series is upon me. It was a tough decision as there are so many worthy patios in Vancouver left to highlight but when I heard that Lift Bar & Grill in Coal Harbour had just finished a $1.5 million rooftop patio renovation my decision was made. Joining me on the last of my patio adventures is good friend and host of Shaw TV’s The Rush Fiona Forbes. When we made our date for Lift both Fiona and I realized that we hadn’t been there in over 3-4 years so it’s high time we remedy that and check out their fabulous new rooftop patio.

Lift Bar & Grill is located at 333 Menchions Mews, or right beside the Westin Bayshore on the Coal Harbour Seawall. Whether you walk, cab or Valet park your car the Lift building is iconic and can’t be missed. Lift Bar & Grill opened about 10 years ago to much fanfare and like most restaurants it’s had it ups and down. From what I’ve heard from some friends that have been there lately it’s on an up swing right.

As I mentioned it has been a few years since I was hear last so forgive me but I forgot they have two patios to choose from. The lower patio is offers up some great tables plus a unique semi circular bar that is perfect for singles or couples.

Fiona and I want to check out the new rooftop though so we head up to the second floor. It’s massive with seating for 100 people at least. There are lots of seating choices to choose from. You can chose a table along the glass perimeter and look out to the marina or you can choose lounge chair near one of the fire pits. There is even a little cozy corner with a fireplace if that’s your preference.

Fiona and I went straight to the back lounge area complete with massive fire pit. First up is a round of drink so we can cheers the last patio. Fiona has a Caesar while I go for a glass of Proseco. Now we can relax and enjoy ourselves.

Now that we are all cozy and have our first drink in hand it’s time to start sampling some of the food on offer. To start with we order a Sushi sampler plate and a Tomato & Burrata Salad. I wasn’t aware that the Lift did Sushi but man was it good. California Rolls, Wild Mushroom Tempura Rolls, Lobster Rolls, a salmon & Tuna Roll… they were all fantastic. As for the Tomato and Burrata Salad all I can say is that Burrata was soooooo fresh! Oh I almost forgot that we also ordered a side of Fries with Truffle mayo cause someone was craving them Smile

Believe it or not but we are still a bit peckish so we order another round of dishes. We both had to try the Alberta Meatballs and the Halibut Fish Tacos which I was thrilled to hear were not battered. Both dishes did not disappoint, in fact they were delicious. I loved fish tacos and appreciated that the tasty Halibut wasn’t breaded or covered in batter but was fresh, light and tasty.

When a place has been around for as long as Lift Bar & Grill has sometimes you forget about it because you try out the new places. With the newly renovated rooftop patio and an Executive Chef that knows what he’s doing I think it’s time you give Lift a fresh look and treat it like it just opened, plus they have the only water views from a rooftop patio in the entire city. As for the views from either patio their is only one word to describe them and that is Vancouver. The views are quintessential Vancouver.
